This is obviously a little late, but I think it's worth it still. Here I will summarise the results of the Hampshire Congress. This is available on the Hampshire website, but I think this forum should give such information too. Also, any discussions about the congress are welcome.

HAMPSHIRE CHAMPION 2006/7: TOM ANDERSON (Southampton)

--OPEN TOURNAMENT--

1 = TOM ANDERSON 4 1/2
1 = H. LAMB 4 1/2
1 = GAVIN LOCK 4 1/2

U-160 Grading prize: LES ALLEN 3
U-140 Grading prize: N. BURTON / IAN MATTHEW 3 1/2

--UNDER 125 TOURNAMENT--

1 R. A. CLEAVE 5 1/2
2 = C. GODDARD 4 1/2
2 = SIMON ROBERTS 4 1/2

U-110 Grading prize: EDWARD DAVIES 4

I was disappointed that there wasn't a photographer at the closing/award ceremony at the end of the Hampshire Congress, as the photos could have been uploaded onto the Hampshire website. Finding a volunteer to do such a task is surely easy. It was particularly disappointing and maybe even embarassing because the Mayoress was there to give the awards and it would probably be expected that photos would be taken of receiving the prizes from the Mayor/Mayoress.

Secondly I see no reason why the results of each game round by round are not published on the site, as this would be interesting to see. And also there seems no reason why pgn files cannot be made for all the games in the Open section for each round, as the game scores are available to the arbiters, and permission doesn't need to be given to publish the game scores as they are not copyright of the players. Again, it wouldn't be hard to find a volunteer to do the job of making pgn's for them all. I'd be willing to do it myself. I believe it would be very interesting and instructive to see the sort of level and style of the play in the tournament.
